Beginner Quilting Series

Do you want to learn to sew/quilt? Want to make beautiful bags and quilts? We are starting a new series where you can take the classes 1x a week and we even have a classroom with machines for you to use! Get off to a quick start with machine quilting in 7 fun and informative lessons! We’ll cover the essential tools and techniques, the importance of ¼” seams, fundamentals of color and fabric selection, and more. You’ll get the basics of quilting, binding, and finishing a piece, plus we can provide a machine for you to try it out before you jump in and buy a machine.

Course Description: Beginners Series is a course designed for the true quilting/sewing beginner. Don’t have a machine we got you covered. Each class offers a new, progressive skill building technique fast-tracking your way to quilting. The only pre-requisite for this course is to have the desire to learn.
The series is also attractive for the new(ish) to intermediate beginner quilter who wants to up-level their skills and learn additional techniques.
The course is comprised of 7 total class sessions. Each class is a stand-alone session. However, there will be times when you may have to finish things at home. During each session we will focus on a new skill/term.
You will have one week between sessions to practice and perfect the newly learned skill allowing you to complete a new quilt top on your own. Doing so will allow you to practice sewing in between classes.
The goal is to keep sewing, soaking it all up and sewing in between sessions. Challenging yourself with learning new techniques. the classes will be once a week on Wednesday from 6pm to 8ish pm– this will allow you to practice your newly learned techniques before moving on to the next higher-skilled technique.
Introduction: The first class, will begin on Sept 20th. In the first session, learn about fabric preparation, cutting, piecing techniques and ¼” seam accuracy, block pressing and seam nesting. No preparation needed.
Note: A refrigerator is available in the classroom. The classroom will remain available till 4:30 pm on each day of class. The classroom is open other days and weekends you are welcome to come in on other days to work on your project or get assistance if needed.
